In June 2017, the shooting that occurred in Washington, D.C. gained notoriety because of the victims, which included Rep. Steve Scalise, and of the political motivation behind the act. That prompted a look at mass shootings in the United States from January 2017 up to that point. Since then, a deadly mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas gained national. Surely, there were a lot more incidents in between, but this is the largest one.
